  7. aviosy May 20, 2012 at 10:39 PM Reply

@Tyo, Tankie and Josevira : kayanya register dulu deh via online sampe dpt balesan dri Sass Atlantic. krena mnurut info balesan yg aku dpt, kalo ga dpt invitation dari pihak Sass, kita gabisa dateng (kyanya sih gitu yah) jadi ga usah pusingin medical check up klo blom dsuruh hehehe..

    • Tyo May 21, 2012 at 12:13 AM Reply

@aviosy,,,sebenernya inti pertanyaan gw,,apa airline luar bsa consider calon awak cabin yg buta warna,,,?karena di indonesia tdak bsa sm sekali,,contohnya yaa gw,,,udah capek2 ikut the whole test tp stuck di medicalnya aja,,jd gw gak mau wasting time aja,,thankss

      • IRWIN May 21, 2012 at 12:34 PM

eh sekarang udah makmur hidupnya bersama CX..

      • the_andrian May 22, 2012 at 11:16 AM

tio sebaiknya dicoba aja dulu,,ga usah mikir wasting time,,kl mikir ky gitu ntr kmu ga akan yakin sm diri kamu sendiri,,nothing to loose aja,,kalo kata orang bijak lebih baik kalah saat berperang dari pada mundur sebelum berperang,,otreh sob….

      Dearest Via,

First of all you will do Arm reach of 212 cm while standing on tiptoes, no need to worry about your weight, more abt bmi..middle east airlines do not always required skinny body, its all about your personality.

      be there, and Good Luck

@aviosy thanks a lot for your info dear, aku udah register di webnya emirates, tinggal tunggu balesan invitation dari pihak sass atlantic, biasanya itu berapa lama dear setelah kita berhasil register, and balesannya itu di email atau di account kita yg di webnya emirates? thx b4

  10. aviosy May 21, 2012 at 3:41 PM Reply

@Via : kalo menurut pramugari2 SQ test di SQ jau lebi mudah dibanding EK, Apalagi kalo uda ada ijazah s1. Krn kakakku di SQ jadi bgitu yg aku denger 🙂 coba aja di EK,we never know kan ga mlulu harus punya postur ekstra ideal 🙂

  15. lady May 23, 2012 at 9:15 PM Reply

dan juga buat SQ… kalo mo passed all their stage just be ur self and always be look smart… krn yg terpenting dr penilaian mereka adalah gimana cara kita menyikapi setiap hal yang dihadapin ke kita… S1 itu emang persyaratan tapi g jaminan kalo bakalan terus passed the stage, just be calm and think all ur’s answer before speak krn sekali udh ngomong it udh g bisa di ulang lg

    Dear Kind Wannabes,

    • Sofie Amos June 1, 2012 at 2:57 AM Reply

      Hi Shaqina,

If I were you, I won’t miss this chance. Dateng aja buat interview nya, mungkin mereka liatnya kamu qualified buat posisi ASA. Kalo uda jadi ASA lebih gampang buat transfer atau apply lagi buat cabin crew nya. Mereka prioritasin employee mereka dulu. Anggep aja stepping stone.
Goodluck buat interview nya kalo kamu decide buat dateng. 🙂

    • Sofie Amos June 1, 2012 at 2:40 AM Reply

      Hi Aya,

Coba kamu ukur deh, kalo kamu tip toes tanpa sepatu, trus tangan kamu nyampe 212 cm gak?
Eh, pas assesment day ngepas banget, line nya cuman kesentuh jari.

  36. Ritza May 31, 2012 at 2:34 PM Reply

Does anyone now what kind of dresscode should be wore? Just like Qatar, they required us to us business attire with neat hair and so on. For Emirates, do you know what is the best attire? Thanks in advance 🙂 Spirit!

@sofie,pretty thank you for the info

    • Sofie Amos June 1, 2012 at 5:24 PM Reply

      Hi Ritza,
I copied this from former Emirates cabin crew. Have a look and hope it will help you and others.

The point of any interview is to exude that you’re confident you can do the job. And to help you get that across is by looking CLEAN and POLISHED – like you know how to groom yourself. True, once you get accepted and pass SEP, you get a day where they teach you how to groom, but it’s good to not be too far off. Seems pretty obvious right? But trust me, they don’t like any sign of stubble.

All the women left at the end exuded natural beauty, but not so natural it looks like you just came back from camping. Here’s a breakdown:

      1. Polished skin. You’re thinking, duh, but I’m serious. If you don’t know how to properly clean and moisturize your skin, start now. Airplane air is dry and nasty. You’re going to have to figure out how to clean the crap out of your pores and slap on a lot of hydration. Otherwise, say hello to acne and wrinkles galore. Do you really want to look like you’re 40 when you’re 25?
Don’t pile on the foundation for your interview, you can see that stuff from a mile away. Lightweight foundation, a little concealor where you need it, some blush on the apples of your cheeks, and you’re good to go – to the next step.

      2. Bring out your eyes a bit, but no smokey eyes. Yellow asian girls: Curl those lashes, because we have the straightest ones out of everyone else on the planet.

This is what I was told during our Grooming day: Mascara is a must when working. As well, you have to apply either neutral shades of shadow, and/or liner. No smokey eyes. And no false lashes. Tonnes of girls wear falsies to work, and your pursers and sfs’ usually don’t give a damn (unless they truly want to be awful), but for your interview and during training, it’s probably best to leave them on your vanity table.

      3. The reason why I wanted to join Emirates was very simple. 1.) Travel. 2.) An excuse to wear red lippie. I looove red lips! So naturally, I used the interview as an excuse to go out and buy myself a brand new Makeup Forever lipstick. If you think red lips is too vavoom for you still, just wear a lipcolour that’s close to your natural colour. Nothing glittery or crazy glossy.

      4. Wear a suit. Don’t have an expensive matching suit? Neither did I, but I had a white collared shirt, a black pencil skirt, and a black suit jacket. If you don’t have suit jacket, do yourself a favour and get one. They’re a good investment. Thing I was asked to improve on was the length of the skirt. At EK, the uniform skirts were hemmed to an inch below your kneecap. At the interview, I was asked to bring it up to just above my knee – no minis honey. You’re not interviewing for Virgin, are you?
While I’m at it, wear a nice pair of neutral coloured pumps too – doesn’t mean ballet flats won’t get you in the door (because we know of a lovely EK girl who only wore ballet flats), but it doesn’t look quite as put together, does it?

      5. If you wear a skirt, wear hosiery. Period.

      6. You don’t need to tie your hair into a tight bun, just make sure it’s neat and out of your face. I had streaks of blue in my hair for the first two interviews (with the third party recruitment agency – I don’t think they noticed), but once I found out I made it to the interview rounds with actual Emirates recruiters, I dyed it all back to black. Natural-looking hair colour is a must, says the grooming day ladies.

      7. Nails – stop biting them. I didn’t pay attention to my nails at the interview, but admittedly I have healthy ones. Not too short, and not claw-like. At grooming, they expect you to always have nail polish on at work. Shades accepted are red (obviously), dark red and nude. Learn to take care of your cuticles too – as I’ve mentioned before, it’s super dry on a plane, and peeling cuticles just get worse up in the air.

      8. Jewelry: keep it simple. Leave the long dangly feather earrings at home. In EK, you can’t wear necklaces or bracelets, only simple stud earrings and a silver or gold watch with a white face.

      9. Nitty-gritty miscellaneous stuff: Take care of your facial hair. If you’re a girl with a moustache, it’s probably good to stop denying it and do something about it. And groom those brows – I didn’t tell you to over-pluck though. Over-plucking adds age. As well, weight matters. You have to be within a healthy BMI according to your height.

I’m not going to talk about the 4 or 5 interview rounds or the types of questions we had – you can find that plenty online, plus, I can’t really remember. What I will say is don’t be pushy or too talkative. There were a number of Air Canada crew with us, and almost all of them were eliminated. Two of the girls were beautiful and amazing, so I don’t know why they didn’t want them, but this one guy was so ANNOYING. Just kept talking and talking, taking over the group discussions…Here, we tend to like seeing candidates who are gungho, display leadership potential, blah blah. Not in EK. They just want to see you getting along with everyone. Don’t be so submissive that you don’t talk, but don’t take over. Just be easy-going! And when it’s your turn to talk in front of the whole group, don’t mumble in your beard. Everyone’s gotta be able to hear you. Stand straight, and smile with eye contact. Remember the point of interviews? Exude confidence.

      • Ritza June 2, 2012 at 10:41 AM

        Dear Sofie,

Thanks a bunch for the tips!! Read that will obviously help and motivate me. You know, somehow I didn’t feel like I’m confidence enough to go, that’s why I need to know a lot of things that can convince me that I have to go through.

Well, thank you so much! But one thing, do you thing it’s ok to wear stockings?

      • Esti June 8, 2012 at 5:11 PM

        Hi Ritza,

You might want to reread Sofie’s reply. It’s clearly mentioned on point #5 :

“5. If you wear a skirt, wear hosiery. Period.”

FYI, “hosiery” has the same meaning with “stockings”

        Cheers!

    @Sofie amos,
Thanks for the advice abt ASA interview yahh..
lets say i attend the assessment day for the ASG/ASA on 4 june, is it possible for me to come to the open day for cabin crew on 9 june?
kali aja gaboleh krna udah ikutan assessment day utk ASA nya…

    • Sofie Amos June 1, 2012 at 10:34 PM Reply

Mmmm.. Kalo di Dubai apply beberapa posisi at the same time sih gak papa. i.e. cabin crew + Airport Service Agent + Marhaba Service Agent. Trus mau dateng berkali kali di open day cabin crew tanpa register juga gpp. Kalo uda pernah sampe ke tahap assesment nya trus gagal harus nunggu 1 taon lagi. Biasa nya mereka bakal nanya uda pernah apply blom sebelom nya, posisi apa and kapan.

    • steven wibisono June 8, 2012 at 8:51 PM Reply

      • Sofie Amos June 2, 2012 at 5:32 PM

        Hi Novii,
Maksudnya pas interview nya gitu kamu mau pake celana panjang?
Most of time female staff yang demen pake pants staff2 yang arabic/ mostly muslim.

    • Sofie Amos June 2, 2012 at 5:28 PM Reply

      Hi Shaqina,
Pertama kamu gak usah worry soal accommodation, electricity+water bill, transportation from and to airport from accom. Semua ditanggung sama Emirates. Dari cosmetic products sampe restaurant and leisure,, discount tickets plus sponsor or refferal letter dari Emirates kalo kamu mo jalan2 and gampang buat obtain visa. 🙂
Istilahnya salary yang kamu terima uda bersih la. Blom ditambah kalo kamu overtime, lumayan banget bayarannya.

    • Sofie Amos June 2, 2012 at 5:43 PM Reply

      Hi Aya,
Sorry to hear that. Mmm.. It would be hard, since armreach test is their mandatory requirement. Safety is number 1, and they have to make sure every single crew capable to reach their safety equipment located above within your reach. Try apply other airlines with small planes, don’t give up since nobody knows.

    Hi @Ritza,
They’ve never mentioned about you should/allow to wear a stocking or not.
Based on my observation, mostly people who attend the assesment didn’t wear stocking.
They’d love to check and observe you from head to toe, including your skins, grooming, appearance, body language, posture, without you noticing it. I guess just keep it simple and it seems like you covering something if you wear stocking. I believe is better to provide them what they expect from the applicant at first hand. From the moment you waiting on the waiting room until you left, remember that their eyes is on you.

      Hello Sofie,
      Very informative, thanks a lot!
Are you working in EK? Or ever been there for interview before? Seems like you know the process very good 🙂
Well, actually I have some black spots in my hands and legs from my alergic, I’m still trying to cure it with some medicines and cream but seems like it will take a long time, that’s why I’m a bit worry because I will fly quite far to attend this, even I know the risk, I just want to try, if not we will never know.
Do you think it’s ok if I put some covermark to cover the black spot? Just to minimize the look.. Need you advice. Thanks a bunch!

      • Sofie Amos June 2, 2012 at 6:49 PM

        Hi Ritza,
No worries, it feels good to share the knowledge and info for all of you who has same passions and dreams as I do.
Honestly I’ve been working and reside here in Dubai since early 2009. I applied before and manage to be invited on the assesment day late 2009 for Emirates from here. There was 26 people on that day, So many european and roughIy only 4 people from Asia. I was the only Indonesian. Very competitive environment and athmosphere. I failed my first attempt, i received the regretment letter right before group discussion stage.

On late 2010, Emirates held an open day. This open day open for “everyone”, at least 3000 people easy (should be more) show up on that day. Crazyyy situation, people from anywhere came on that day and pushing around just to enter the assembling area. I had to wait for 4-5 hours just to submit my CV. I didn’t get shortlisted thou.

I applied also in different airlines, such as Korean Air back on 2008 and Qatar Airways recently. I manage to reach either assesment day or Group discussion.

Plenty of my friends now in Emirates working as Cabin Crew or ASA. So I’ve got plenty info and tips from them too while I keep on browsing/research and absorb as much info as I could related to cabin crew since I still dream about this job and hope I could reach and fullfil my dream before its too late.

In regards with the black spots, if you could cover it with concealer or foundation without so much different or too noticable it would be worth to try. However if you manage to pass this open day, during assesment day, while you were up for armreach test, they will ask you if you have scars, spots, birthmarks or tattoos in visible area.
May I ask the size of the spots or is there plenty spots on your visible skin? Because it would be troublesome if you claim that you don’t have any of the above and at the end they found out you didn’t claim it at the beginning.

  42. Ritza June 2, 2012 at 9:14 PM Reply

    Hello again Sofie,

Wow, such an experience! Well, i think i have the same case like you, have been tried for some airlines because of the dream job that we really want, but things are not going like we expected. But if there is a will, there is a way. So keep trying, that’s true: before it’s too late 🙂

Anyway, for the black spots, some of them are in visible area. I definitely hate it because they appear since last month and i came to doctor 4 times! just to know what kind of allergic that i have. i got some creams and medicine and still in progress to make them totally disappear.
it’s not that big, small like you have been bitten by mosquito.
it takes couple weeks because some of them already gone, but the new spots come again. But now, i think because i didn’t eat the forbidden food, i took medicine regularly and put the cream, the spots didn’t come again.
now the challenge is to make the old spots to be disappeared.
If they ask me, should i tell them from beginning?

    Thank anyway.. 🙂

    • Sofie Amos June 2, 2012 at 10:31 PM Reply

Indeed Ritza, Always keep the faith!! 🙂

You face a same case with one of the applicant that I’d met during assesment.
She was sitting next to me while we were waiting for the result after armreach test and english test. We were having this conversation during our break.
She answered honestly that she has alergic and brown spots occurs on her skin. She show them what the brown spots look like and then the interviewer asked another questions if this condition is cureable, has she’s been to doctor, either she received a medical treatment or not. She mentioned that is cureable and she’s on medical treatment.
When the result announced, she didn’t pass. She was assuming because of that.

Wether you should claim it since the beginning or not, is up to you. I really have no idea how far it could affect their decission to let you pass the skin check or not. It’s tricky, isn’t it…. : /

      • Ritza June 3, 2012 at 6:51 AM

        Dear Sofie,

Ohh.. Alright, they won’t let you go then :(( one person didn’t pass is ok because I believe there will be a thousands woman on the day, so they still have a chance to get the perfect one.
But I have to go through, airplane ticket is on me, hopefully the spots will be nice to disappear soon before D day. Anyway, one question again (sorry to keep asking :p) should we tie up our hair or just let it hangs loosely? What do you think?

        Thanks anyway 🙂

  44. Sofie Amos June 3, 2012 at 1:18 AM Reply

    Hi Shaqina,
Thank you for the advice. I’m not that confident to write on different blog to share my “failure moment”. Lol… 🙂
I promise once I reach my dream and become one of the crew, I won’t hesitate to share it. As for now I’m happy to help answering and share the info that I’ve gain so far. I just found this forum 3 days ago, it’s amazing. I wish I found this earlier.
I tend to wear blazer when I attend any “Open Day” / “CV submission” event. But I always make sure I carry medium bag where I can keep my blazer inside incase I decided not to wear it.
There’s this awkward moment when you show up and most of the rest didn’t wear blazer and you feel weird and uncomfortable. It happened to me once. 🙂

Thankies, this would help a lot 😀

  46. Sofie Amos June 4, 2012 at 2:27 AM Reply

    Dear @Ritza,
As I mentioned earlier, she was just “assuming” she didn’t pass because of her skin condition. Still a lot of factors could affect the interviewer decission, such as open questions session, English test, armreach test. It happened at the same stage. Sadly the interviewer already explained since the beginning that they do not allow to reveal the reason in any circumstances why we didn’t pass to the next stage (NDA signed by them).
Frankly speaking nobody knows what exactly the reason behind we didn’t pass. Therefore please do not put too much thought on that matter.
Be positive and let it flow. 🙂

How long is your hair? If you hair is medium length just tie your hair back neatly (pony tail) should be fine. But if your hair is quite long I suggest you to keep it in a bun. Too much hair or long hair dangling won’t be pleasant.

    • Ritza June 4, 2012 at 5:46 PM Reply

      Hello Sofie..

Yeah always we never know what is the reason why we didn’t pass the stage.
Sure i will, be positive is always give us positive energy and spirit for ourselves and around.

my hair is, quite long, half of my back. i think i should tied it up as usual, or ponytail?

      Thanks in advance sofie 🙂

      • Sofie Amos June 5, 2012 at 5:40 AM

        Hi Ritza,

Tie it up and keep it in a bun, I believe it would be better. 🙂

  47. Sofie Amos June 4, 2012 at 4:28 PM Reply

    Hi @Tyo,

Apparently yes. Other International Airlines has their standard on the med requirement. As far as I know Qatar Airways well-known as a strict one, and they consider partial blind won’t fit their requirement. I’m not sure about Emirates.
For medical check up, mostly you have to undergo double med check (especially for Middle East). First you have to have med check from Indo (/respective country where they hire you at first place) to obtain a “visit visa” and second med check in here, to obtain the “residence and work permit”.

    • Tyo June 4, 2012 at 11:29 PM Reply

Wowwwww,,,so it means i have to close my dream as an cabin crew indeed…but i am wondering why one of my friend had been hired for one of international airline and he got partial blind??

      • Sofie Amos June 5, 2012 at 5:06 AM

        Hi @Tyo,
I’ve never meant to make you feel down or state that you have to close or give up on your dream. Every single airlines/company has different requirment.
Your case makes me curious and lead me to personally ask one of my friend that working for Emirates. He said partial blind would be a huge obstacle to be a cabin crew since to recognize some “special” passangers they refer it with color. one of th example: handicap passanger. It might sound just a simple thing, but he said it will affect the operations, therefore it would be difficult.
Where is your friend working now.. Maybe you could ask your friend for some info regarding this matter, even perhaps you could ask if that specific airlines hiring crew so you could apply there.

      • IRWIN June 5, 2012 at 9:12 AM

        semoga membantu..:)

Emirates offered one of the best package of cabin crew. A lot of European, South American and Arabic crew nowadays. Don’t think about glamour job, basically cabin crew can be waitress in the air, paramedic, information counter staff, housekeeper and saver in case of emergency. The job itself required a lot of physical activities.

    • Suka Suka (@sandboydubai) March 24, 2013 at 2:50 AM Reply

U should wait for the respond from Emirates. They will contact u through e-mail if they r interested with ur CV. Guys, there are 2 kinds of interview process in Emirates. They are:
-Global Assessment means that u should apply on-line and interviews are by appointment only.
-Global Open days means u simply carry ur CV and show up in the venue.
      This time is Global Assessment.

      • rums March 24, 2013 at 9:15 PM

sekarang aga membingungkan nih ka, karena di webnya Sass Atlantic itu ada open day tanggal 6 april tapi di web careernya Emirates cuma ada assessment day yang terakhir daftar tanggal 13 april.. sampai sekarang sih aku belum dpt invitation untuk assessment day..

  81. henny March 24, 2013 at 12:18 PM Reply

@Suka_suka : batas pendaftaran onlinenya tanggal berapa ya ??

    • Suka Suka (@sandboydubai) March 26, 2013 at 5:35 AM Reply

      Rums : supaya ga bingung,coba dua2 aja
Henny : Assesment nya kan tgl 13 April, berarti batas nya sblm tgl 13 dong.

      • anonymous March 26, 2013 at 9:53 AM

@Bro Suka Suka, kalo Open days sama Global Assessment, beda testnya apaan yak?
bingung jga ni kalo ikut dua-duanya 😦

and … Do i have to take a TOEIC test b4?

    • Suka Suka (@sandboydubai) March 26, 2013 at 5:06 PM Reply

Klo dulu sih..Open days cuman nge drop CV doang, mrk liat penampilan lu cocok ga nih klo jd emirates crew, trus mereka Tanya, udah apply on line blm? gw dpt kerjaan bukan dr Indo yg pake agen saas atlantic,gw dptnya dr luar indo,jd mgkn agak beda yah. Pas open days, mrk cuman nanya gitu doang. Trus setelah beberapa hari di panggil deh buat interview benerannya. Dulu gw ga pake TOEIC,malah gw ga punya TOEFL/IELTS.
Bahasa Inggris is a must in this job,klo msh blm lancar di lancarin dulu. Banyak yg gagal krn bhs inggrisnya ga cas cis cus. Good luck teman2!

  85. rums April 1, 2013 at 11:24 PM Reply

alhamdulillah scorenya diatas yang ditulis di iklan open day.. Engga sulit ko tesnya, cuman dapet score report.. di iklan-iklan EK sbelumnya selalu ditulis
minimal TOEIC score sekian tp ga jd syarat mutlak, toh mereka juga ngadain english test pas Assessment Day

    Halo semua,

Mau nanya kalo tgl 6 itu (bsk) Open Day Career kan? bukan Assessment Day?

Nah kalo udh apply via online dan sudah dapet balesanya apa perlu dateng lagi?

Kan data saya udh ke register, kalo datang lagi apa harus apply lagi manual? Apa ga jadi double?

Minta infonya dong khusus buat MALE cabin crew-nya, kalo ga salah baca di atas, pas ODC kita cuma drop CV aja.. Apa bnr begitu?

Soalnya saya dr luar jakarta kalo kesana hanya drop CV sedangkan saya sudah via online rasanya percuma.. Malah diatas ada yg pengalamannya 4-5 jam cuma buat antri..

Minta saran sm infonya ya tp khusus buat yang MALE-nya.. What should I do.. ?

    Thanks before,
    -arya- 🙂

Dear Fp, I want to ask something.
Do we have to pay some amount of money when we are in Training session with Emirates?
I heard it from one of my friends, I just need some referennces, in case it is true, we have to prepare it, right? I am so grateful for your comment. thanks.

    • Suka Suka (@sandboydubai) November 6, 2013 at 3:36 AM Reply

It’s FREE! Instead, they pay u during training, provide accommodation ,transportation, etc. If u don’t have enough money upon arrival in Dubai, they will lend u enough money for basic stuff such as food and they will deduct it from ur salary.

I have an experience as a english tutor but it was about 3 years ago, also i dont have toeic score just only toefl, but as long as i know, toefl is only valid for 1-2 years means it s not valid at all if i bring that along with my cv.. so sad 😦

    Dear all,
klo aku baca dari komen temen2 disini. brarti emirates ga punya batasan umur brapa ya?? asal min 21 tahun so if 30 up, masih ada kesempatan even for married women n have children right? and ga ada batasan untuk mata minus, is that true?? misal min minus 2 or so… aku minus 4 but normally aku pake soflen bening. soalnya klo domestic airline banyak banget persyaratan nya. still performance is number 1, but for international kayaknya personality is number 1. so im glad to hear that..

  103. Ely Hardcore March 20, 2014 at 11:56 AM Reply
